At the turn of the 19th/20th Century, Louisville was rich in churches, especially in the Gothic style.  An important center for religion, Louisville has the oldest Roman Catholic Archdiocese in the American heartland, the headquarters of the Presbyterian Church USA, and important long established Presbyterian and Southern Baptist seminaries.
